Indy Pride Week 2018 is in full swing after its annual community picnic at baseball game at Garfield Park Sunday — and the week is far from over. Celebrating LGBTQ+ rights and visibility, this annual event brings to the city tens of thousands of revelers, activists and allies.

There are still several events remaining this week to attend to express your solidarity with the community, and the week culminates with “Girl Pride presents: Indy Sheroes” tomorrow night at The Vogue in Broadripple, and Indy Pride Parade and Festival Saturday at Military Park.

Local burlesque performer and WOIA (Women of Indianapolis Arts) executive board member Lola Lavacious, one of the principal organizers of Thursday’s “Girl Pride presents Indy Sheroes” event, describes the event as follows: “We have ALL local artists from diverse backgrounds and have a special guest, Mike Hot Pence too!” The event is designed to “celebrate Indy women” and the LGBTQ+ community, according to Lavacious, and will feature a tapestry of art from live music and art, to burlesque, circus, comedy, spoken word and more “to entertain, inspire, uplift, move you and bring the community together.” For more information on tomorrow night’s event, see the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/events/189211301862652/ Tickets are available at The Vogue or online, the event will begin at 7:30 pm, and the festivities will continue until 3 am.

Headlining the Vogue event will be Mariah Ivey and TribeSouL, a Hip-Hop/SouL and Spoken Word collective based in Indianapolis. Led by national Spoken Word Artist and MC Mariah Ivey, the group has begun to make waves within their home city and beyond, bringing to the forefront (in their own words) “a message of Hope, Communal Healing, Love, Unity, and Sacred Spirituality.” Combining various sounds and art forms, TribeSouL found their niche in the stream of Hip-Hop, Neo-Soul, Funk, and Reggae with Gospel Influences, and says of this Thursday’s event, “We’re looking forward to LIFTING our sisters in WARM musical vibrations, PEACE, Light, and Feminine Innergy.”

Also appearing on Thursday night’s event will be Cirque Indy, Angel Burlesque, Sylvia Thomas, Ess McKee, Gypsy Moonshine and more.

Indy Pride Week ’18 will then reach its apex Saturday in downtown Indianapolis with the annual Cadillac Barbie Pride Parade kicking off at 10 am on Mass Avenue, and the Indy Pride Festival at Military Park featuring music, comedy, drag performances, dance and more, with performances kicking off at 11 am and continuing until 11 pm.
